A lawyer for John Zaccaro Jr., 24-year-old son of 1984 Democratic vice presidential candidate Gerald Ferraro, said on Friday his client sold cocaine to an undercover policewoman.

But attorney Charles Tetzlaff, in his opening statement, asked a jury here to acquit Zaccaro, saying the former Middlebury College student was the victim of entrapment."We will not dispute the allegations that Zaccaro sold a regulated drug but we will show evidence that this is a case of improper and overzealous conduct" on the part of Middlebury police, Tetzlaff said.
