Two men chased, captured and turned over to police an 18-year-old man who assaulted a 77-year-old woman and stole her purse.

The woman was in the parking terrace of Crossroads Plaza about 7 p.m. Tuesday when a man hit her on the head, knocked her to the ground and tried to steal her purse. Salt Lake police said the man continued to assault her before finally taking her purse.Two men, John Perin, 28, and Marc Sanders, 19, saw the assault and chased the man to the Greyhound bus depot. There, bus driver Jeff Mitchell helped them capture the suspect and held him until police officers arrived.

The suspect said he didn't have any money for a bus ticket to Wyoming, so he robbed the woman, a report said.
