Residents in the historic ski villa of Park City have the highest annual income in Utah, while fruit growers and retirees in tiny Santaquin are the poorest, a state income study shows.

Households in Park City, about 30 miles east of Salt Lake City, have an average adjusted gross income of $37,414 per family, while households in Santaquin, which is home to many retirees, have an average income of $8,734, according to the report released by the Utah Tax Commission Thursday.Park City shot from 58th out of 150 communities in top income in 1985 to first out of 140 for 1989, the year data in the report was compiled from. And Santaquin, in Utah County, went from 122nd of 150 communities in 1985 to last.

Residents in the Salt Lake County community of Hunter had the second highest family income at $35,368.
