Police Chief Gary J. Leonard announced that Warren Jeffery and Mark Nosack were promoted to sergeant Friday.
A formal presentation of the promotions is scheduled Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the police department's training building, 598 E. 9400 South.Jeffery and Nosack were chosen from five officers who emerged as finalists after an exhaustive testing procedure, Leonard said.
Nosack has worked in law enforcement for more than eight years with previous experience in the Air Force. He is one of the department's D.A.R.E. officers and will continue working with the public school-based drug program until the end of the school year. He holds degrees in psychology and law enforcement.
Jeffery is a 15-year law enforcement veteran, starting his career as a corrections officer for the Salt Lake County sheriff's department. He is considered by the department to be an expert child sex-abuse investigator and has developed a number of juvenile deferral programs.
