Utah Power & Light Co. officials announced the firing Friday of a midlevel manager following an audit by the company's internal auditors.

The firing of the employee, whom officials refused to identify, was announced in a two-paragraph press release.The releases said the regularly scheduled audit revealed some $500,000 in questionable payments to several companies supplying services to UP&L. The audit also identified a number of irregularities, including violation of company policies and procedures. "Further investigative activity is continuing through appropriate law enforcement agencies," the release said.
