The public is invited to attend a program Friday, March 22, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Northwest Multipurpose Center, 1300 W. 300 North.

Salt Lake Mayor Palmer DePaulis; City Councilman Ron Whitehead; Tony Mitchell, the center's first director and former state Social Services director; and Kathy Hoskins, director of operations for Salt Lake Community Action Program, are among officials invited.Some guests will address the gathering beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by an open house until 1 p.m.

Swimming will be free between 1 and 3:30 p.m. at the center, which is operated by Salt Lake County Human Services, said Barbara Drake, center director.
