Salt Lake ophthalmologist George C. Pingree has been named president of the University of Utah School of Medicine Alumni Association.

Pingree, a Salt Lake native, earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the U. in 1959 and 1962. He will serve a three-year term as head of the medical alumni group.There are some 2,400 graduates of the U. School of Medicine in practice throughout the country, especially in the western states of Utah, California, Arizona, Idaho and Washington. Another 6,000 physicians have completed postgraduate residencies at the University of Utah affiliated hospitals.

Other officers include: vice-president, Dr. Peter V. Sundwall, family practice, Murray; and secretary, Dr. Cecil O. Samuelson, internal medicine, University of Utah School of Medicine and vice president of medical affairs, Intermountain Health Care, Inc.
