Rita Cox, a Sanpete County native who has worked for several doctors in the south-central Utah area, has been appointed executive director for the New Horizons Crisis Center headquartered in Richfield.

She will be responsible for obtaining funding and for spending money allocated for the center. She will also oversee fiscal policies established by funders, contract conditions and the board of trustees.Cox will work as a liaison for the criminal justice system, social service, religious, community action and other groups.

In her position with the non-profit organization, which works with all forms of domestic violence, the director will represent New Horizons on the state level with issues in regard to homeless and battered women.
