More than 1,500 Utahns helped raise $65,000 during the seventh annual Bowl for Kids' Sake, sponsored by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Salt Lake. The event was held at Mountain View Lanes Feb. 9.

Five-member bowling teams each signed up sponsors, and many of them later attended a costume party with a Mardi Gras theme at the Red Lion Hotel. The major sponsor, Little Caesar's Pizza, contributed nearly $13,000. Other corporate sponsors included American Airlines, Alphagraphics, Utah Power and Light, Intermountain Health Care and First Security Bank.

The money will help take children off the waiting list and place them in a relationship with a volunteer big brother or sister. The program now serves more than 450 children from single-parent households and provides these children with an adult role model.

"Bowl for Kids' Sake raises approximately one-third of the revenue for the local agency. We couldn't do our job without the contributions of all the individuals who made this year's Bowl for Kids' Sake such a huge success," said Dana Eitner, agency director.
