Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs are investigating an attempted rape at a Salt Lake County day-care center.
A man entered Grandma's Drop In Child Care, 2020 E. 3300 South, about 9 p.m. Tuesday and exposed himself to a woman working in a back office, according to a sheriff's report. The woman dialed 911 but the man ripped the phone from the wall jack and threw a plant at the woman, the report said. The woman grabbed a knife and chased the man out of the center and across the parking lot.
Deputies said the man tore the woman's shirt and scratched her chest during the scuffle.
Deputies are looking for a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing jeans, an orange or red jacket and has "a very fat face," the report said. The suspect left the scene riding a bright-colored bicycle.
