A number of Southern Utah University Outreach classes are being offered in Richfield during spring quarter.
Offered through the Division of Continuing Education, the classes will be taught at Sevier Valley Tech. One class, social psychology, SOC 335, will be taught only in April, meeting each Friday and Saturday of the month. Richard Ropers will instruct the three-credit class, which will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.Ropers noted that the class is not designed just for teachers but is useful for public relations personnel, psychology and sociology majors, health field personnel and even church counselors as well.
According to Phillip C. Carter, associate provost for academic programs, a large enough number of people is expected to sign up for one class offering that it will be given in two sessions. Dramatics for teachers, EDUC 436, is a three-credit course that will be taught by Mark Webster in two sessions on Tuesday nights from April 2 through May 28. The first class session will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and the second from 7 to 9 p.m.
Kevin L. Robinson will instruct interaction in the classroom and senior thesis, EDUC 499, a three-credit class that will meet Wednesdays, April 3 through May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Quenton T. Bowler, head of the teacher education department, will instruct reading practicum, EDUC 454, a three-credit course, and current issues in reading, EDUC 404, a one-credit course. The two classes must be taken concurrently. They will be held on Tuesdays from 5 to 8 p.m., April 2 through May 28.
Theater for elementary teachers, TA 390, will be taught by Gary McIntyre, head of the SUU theater department. The three-credit class will meet on Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m., April 1 through May 21.
The cost of each class is $150, with exception of EDUC 404, which is $25. Registration can be made by calling the registrar's office, 586-7714 or 7716, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
