How healthy are you? The Utah Department of Health wants to know.
The department is conducting a random telephone survey of 6,000 Utahns, which will include a sample of 500 households in the state's 12 local health department service areas. The survey will ask questions about lifestyle health factors, such as exercise patterns, alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking."In addition to helping us estimate the prevalence of diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, the survey will also ask about the availability of health insurance and the utilization of medical providers for early identification of health problems," said John Brockert, director of the Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics.
The last survey was conducted in 1986. Valley Research and Survey, a Salt Lake City company, has the contract to conduct the telephone survey.
