Peter F. Gerity, associate dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Utah, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Wayne Brown Institute and also will serve as the executive director, according to Robert K. Rogers, chairman.
Gerity will continue his duties at the U., but he will also assist the institute (formerly the Utah Innovation Foundation) in achieving its goals. Gerity succeeds Brad Bertoch, who resigned to take a job as a staff consultant for the Utah Small Business Development Center, specializing in equity financing for small businesses.Rogers said Gerity played a key role in the institute's Fifth International Conference in Linz, Austria, last August and will be involved in planning future international activities for the institute.
Gerity is a native of Summit, N.J., and holds a degree in animal science from Delaware Valley College. He had a secondary science education from Montclair State College and a master's and doctorate degrees in histochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.
