It's never too early to begin planning, and, with that in mind, the City Council has approved holding its annual Town Days celebration on the second weekend in July next year.
Council members said they hope that by setting the date now, planning efforts will start immediately and some of the problems experienced at this year's celebration can be avoided.Topping the list of concerns was the parade. The city held its Town Days celebration in June this year and found that many of the groups providing floats were not ready that early.
City officials said the later date also eliminates conflicts with the Miss Utah pageant in which Miss South Jordan is usually a participant. Next year's Miss Utah pageant is scheduled for the end of June.
