Florence Amelia James Otterstrom, age 74, passed to peace and tranquility, joining her husband and son, March 4, 1991 at her home in Salt Lake City, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and diabetes.
Born August 13, 1916 in Leadville, Colorado, the daughter of William and Theresa A. Lampshire James. Married John Melvin Otterstrom on May 9, 1938, celebrating 50 years of loving marriage in 1988. She was a very proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, having cared for and raised her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed raising her "family" and attending live productions of the performing arts and volunteered considerable time to the Utah State Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis.She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Otterstrom Crawford; grandchildren, Jason J. Otterstrom, Kevin Crawford, Michael J.Crawford, Mrs. Glen (Jennilyn Crawford Whitney) Sedgwick; brother, Alva A. James; sister, Grace J. Goodfellow; "sister" Mrs. Merrit (Earlene) Watson; four great-grandchildren; all of Salt Lake City; also, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, John Melvin Otterstrom; son, Melvyn John Otterstrom; brothers, Lawrence R., Earl W., and John W. James.
Graveside services Thursday, March 7th, at 1 p.m., Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive. Friends may call Wednesday evening 7-8:30 p.m., and on Thursday, 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple.
