Mrs. Mary H. Butler, 73, of Gautier, Mississippi died March 4, 1991 at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Mrs. Butler was the beloved wife of Hugh Denson Butler (USN Cdr. Ret.) who preceded her in death in 1985. A graduate of Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing, Salt Lake City, she was a member of the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II, and nursed for over 10 years at Arlington County Hospital, Arlington, Virginia.Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. butler made Gautier her home for the past 20 years. She was an active community volunteer for many years serving as president of the Gautier Garden Club and Gautier Homemakers, a friend to the Gautier Library, member of the Gautier Civitan Club and Gulf Coast Orchid Society and loyal supporter of the Salvation Army. Every life she touched was greatly enriched by her kindness, generosity and uplifting spirit.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Butler Parsons and her husband Curtis, Roswell, New Mexico; Susan Rene' Butler, Arlington, Virginia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Denson Butler and his wife, Linda, Gautier; Hoyt Carl Butler and his wife, Erica, Seattle, Washington; and Carey Randall Butler and his wife, Susan, Norfolk, Virginia; five grandchildren; Angela Michelle Butler, Rhett Elliot Butler, Randall Larson Belknap, Erik Alan Belknap and Chance Robert Parsons; two special nieces, Diane Taylor, Plano, Texas; and Patricia Bernstein, Gautier; as well as many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Gautier Presbyterian Church, Hwy. 90 on Wednesday, March 6, 1991 at 10 a.m. Friend may pay their respects at Mrs. Butler's home between noon and 2 p.m. on March 6, 1991.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Domestic Violence Center of the Salvation Army, 3217 Nathan Hale Ave., P. O. Box 784, Pascagoula, Mississippi, 39568-0784.

Mrs. Butler's burial will be private. O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pacagoula is in charge of arrangements.
