PLO leader Yasser Arafat said in an interview published Monday that more than 6,000 Palestinians had been jailed in Kuwait, others had been killed and most were being denied the right to work.
"We are not going to allow Kuwait to punish the Palestinian community," the leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization told Spain's El Pais newspaper. "We have sent letters to the U.N, Arab countries, the Red Cross. They are our people. We have to defend them."Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Saad al-Abdulla al-Sabah has denied that Palestinians had been detained and tortured.
