Agencies, organizations and institutions that want to assist in education programs for the homeless may apply for federal funds through the State Office of Education.

Brent H. Gubler, adult education specialist in the office, said programs are to focus on literacy skills that will help individuals to develop self-sufficiency skills, to function day-to-day and to gain employment.Two proposals will be funded, one in the Salt Lake area and one in Ogden, Gubler said.

Applications and procedural information are available in Gubler's offices at 250 E. Fifth South. The deadline for proposals is Sept. 30.
