The Salt Lake City Chapter of Hadassah and Health Management Resources, a preventative health-care program based at St. Mark's Hospital, will present an Are You at Risk health fair on Sunday, March 10, from 1-4 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 2416 E. 1700 South.
The fair will feature activities to help participants understand the factors that put them at risk for such life-threatening ailments as coronary heart disease, diabetes and hypertension. Fairgoers can have their blood pressure, body composition, glucose and cholesterol levels tested for free.Mini-workshops will also be offered, including sessions on "Diet Logic," "Children's Nutrition," "Calorie Balancing," "Low-Fat Cooking" and "How to Read Food Labels."
Health Management Resources is a nationwide company providing a system for reducing health risk factors, problems related to obesity and other health risks such as smoking and high blood pressure. In 1987, the firm was brought to Salt Lake City by Lora Wortman. "By holding the health fair, we are very pleased to be a part of Hadassah's long-standing commitment to providing top-quality community health care," Wortman said.
Hadassah, the largest American Jewish women's voluntary organization, provides a variety of service programs in Israel and the United States.
