January contracts for future construction in Utah decreased 13 percent to $75.5 million from $87.2 million in January 1990, according to the F.W. Dodge Division of McGraw-Hill Inc.

George A. Christie, vice president and chief economist for Dodge, said non-residential contracts increased 18 percent from $32.3 million in January 1990 to $38.1 million; residential contracts increased 6 percent from $30.7 million to $32.7 million; and non-building contracts decreased 81 percent from $24.2 million to $4.6 million.
