A Kansas man driving near Richfield and a California man in American Fork died as the result of separate accidents on Utah interstates Wednesday.
Killed in the accidents were:Jeffery R. Wheeler, 18, Overland Park, Kan.
Stephen Mark Mitchell, 33, Whittier, Calif.
Wheeler was on an I-70 off-ramp 31 miles east of Richfield when his car ran under the rear wheels of a semitrailer truck driven by Steve Rassmussen, 38, of Fremont, Wayne County, at 2:14 p.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Wheeler was flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where he died. Rassmussen was not hurt and there were no passengers in Wheeler's vehicle.
Mitchell's car began to drift out of a northbound lane on I-15 near west Main Street in American Fork and rolled five or six times when he overcorrected the steering at about 5 p.m. Mitchell was ejected from the car. He died soon after at American Fork Hospital, the UHP reported. No other vehicles were involved.
