Dr. Robert D. Herr, a University of Utah Hospital emergency department physician, has been elected to fellowship in the American College of Physicians, the largest group of internal medicine physicians in the country.

Herr is a clinical instructor in the Division of Emergency Medicine, department of surgery, and an adjunct instructor in internal medicine. He is board-certified in both specialties.At University Hospital, Herr primarily attends in the emergency department, makes teaching rounds on the medical wards and has served as medical director of advanced cardiac life support courses. He also serves on the hospital's trauma and internal medicine resident selection committees.

Herr, who has been on the U. faculty since 1988, received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and completed a residency in both emergency and internal medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

The American College of Physicians, the nation's largest medical specialty society with a membership of 70,000, is a non-profit organization of doctors trained in internal medicine, the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of disease and illness in adults and young adults.
