Stevie Wonder, kicking off an eight-performance run at New York's Radio City Music Hall, confirmed rumors that he plans to run for mayor of Detroit in 1992. "I was raised in Detroit," he said, "and I believe that I can make a contribution to the city that has given me so much." A lifelong Democrat, Wonder said he would not abandon his music for politics. "I will perform," he said, "but I will deal with my responsibility as mayor. I will continue to write songs and sing them."
