Dr. Delva Daines, a specialist in reading instruction and a Brigham University faculty member for 33 years, will retire Aug. 31.
She will be honored at a reception Aug. 23 from 4-6 p.m. in the Alumni House on the BYU campus. Friends, former students and family members are invited.Daines joined the BYU faculty in 1955 and served as a full professor of education and coordinator of graduate and undergraduate programs in the department of elementary education.
She is the recipient of the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teaching Award from BYU and the Outstanding Alumna Award from the College of Family Life, Utah State University. In April, she received the BYU College of Education's Service to Education Award.
