Salt Lake police captured a suspected burglar in an unusual state of Sunday dress - the man was wearing only socks.

Officers and police dogs responded to a burglar alarm at Deseret Industries, 2234 S. Highland Drive, about 2 p.m. Sunday. After officers entered the building, they spotted a man at the other end of the store and sent a dog after him.The dog quickly trapped the near-naked suspect and officers arrested him, a police report stated.

The man told police he had entered through an attic door and officers located his clothing next to that door. Officers also located a pile of women's clothing near the man that consisted of bathing suits, pants, underwear and bras. The store manager said the clothing had not been there when the store was locked up the night before.

Officers supplied the 25-year-old Salt Lake man with a pair of pants from Deseret Industries so he could be transported to jail, where he was booked for investigation of burglary and giving false information to a police officer, the report said.
