Alpine School District has honored eight teachers for awards they recently received.

Gerald Elison, a drama teacher at Orem High School, was honored for being named the Utah School Boards Association's outstanding teacher for urban schools. Jacque Peterson, a social studies teacher at Lehi Junior High School, and Mary Ann Williamson, a teacher at Barratt Elementary School, were selected to participate in the National Diffusion Network's leadership institute at Willamette University in Salem, Ore., this summer.Five teachers were recognized for honors they received from the PTA, which honored an educator from each legislative district. Joseph Germaine, a teacher at Shelley Elementary School, was named outstanding educator for District 57; John C. Burton, principal at Manila Elementary School, District 58; Marilyn Crawford, a teacher at Bonneville Elementary School, District 59; Diane Hemond, a social studies teacher at Orem High School, District 60; and Sherma Sondrup, a home economics teacher at Mountain View High School, District 61.
