"Cooking with Catfish Hunter" contains 10 recipes for diabetics including Pitcher's Mound Pie, Triple Play Pasta and Batter-Up Brownies.
Many of the recipes were provided by former New York Yankees pitcher Jim "Catfish" Hunter, whose diabetes was diagnosed in 1977.This 24-page, full-color booklet has been revised by the Upjohn Co. to include a section on the relationship of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, written by Dr. David Blankenhorn, professor of medicine at the University of Southern California.
The recipes are now accompanied by the American Diabetes Association's dietary exchange system, as well as a listing of the calories and the amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fat for each serving.
The booklet also includes information on eating habits and exercise from a nutrition counselor, suggested weekday and weekend menus, and tips on dining out and snacking.
