Richard Welling Roskelley, 84, died February 22, 1991 at the Logan Regional Hospital.
He was born May 30, 1906 in Smithfield, son of Richard and Hilda Marie Johnson Roskelley. He married Fawn Branson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 22, 1935. Graduated from, Utah State University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. Internationally prominent professor of Rural Sociology, he was a professor at Utah State University for many years. Active member of the LDS Church, served a mission in Germany. He enjoyed farming and quarter horses.
Survived by his wife, Logan; son and two daughters and spouses, Janice R. and LaVell Saunders, North Logan; Gene R. and Peggy Roskelley, Smithfield; Suzann R. and Paul Miller, Hyrum; also surviving are 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bill Rowley, Richfield; Kathryn and D.L. Thomas, Salt Lake City. Preceded in by four infants and two sisters, Leatha R. Winn, and Thelma R. Lundquist; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon, in the North Logan 10th Ward Chapel, 1550 East 1900 North, with Bishop Richard Bradford conducting. Friends may call Monday evening 7-8:30 p.m. at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, and at the church from 10:30 until time of services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
