Alice Marie Gidney Mitchell, 95, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Friday, February 22, 1991 at a local nursing home of causes incident to age.
Born April 22, 1895 in Brigham City, a daughter of George and Emma Rand Gidney. She married George Edward Mitchell, November 12, 1919 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She was reared and educated in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School. She also attended the University of Utah. She had lived in the Ogden area most of her life. She was a member of the Ogden 30th LDS Ward. She previously taught Primary and was an ardent temple worker. She taught school in Brigham City and Ogden. She worked for 21 years as a Medical Supply and Payroll Clerk at the Utah General Depot. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the U.S. Retired Civil Service Women's Auxiliary.Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Royal (Helen) Swaner, Washington Terrace; four granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith G. Briem, Ogden. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Edward Mitchell and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call Tuesday, at the mortuary, Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 12 Noon-12:45 p.m. Interment: Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
