A University of Utah student has been charged with two felonies accusing him of making a bomb threat to get out of taking a math test.
Two U. employees received phone calls at 11 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. on Feb. 15. The caller stated that a bomb would explode in the LeRoy Cowles Building and the Math Building at noon, according to documents filed in 3rd Circuit Court.Both conversations were recorded and a University Police officer familiar with the student recognized the voice. Court documents state the student was scheduled to take a test in the Math Building at noon that day.
The 31-year-old man was arrested and later charged with two counts of threat against life or property, a third-degree felony.
