Bountiful businessman Vernon B. Carr has been honored by the Utah League of Women Voters for his continued efforts to improve election procedures. The league this month presented him with its "Citizen Advocate Award."
"Mr. Carr took it upon himself to study election laws and procedures when his printing company secured many state and local contracts to print election materials," said Terri McCulloch, league co-president. "He found ways to improve the process, fought in the Legislature for the reforms and saved the government money."Carr recommended the punch voting units now used by 92 percent of the state. The units increase the accuracy of vote tallying and speed up the process.
