A man going the wrong way on I-80 near the Great Salt Lake early Sunday was killed in a head-on collision with a semitrailer truck.

Charles Gregory Makin, 22, Sandy, died when his eastbound car crashed into the westbound truck driven by Joseph Buggia, 30, Saginaw, Mich. at 3:04 a.m. Buggia was not injured.Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jon Wassmer said three other westbound motorists reported that they had dodged Makin's car earlier. Investigators could not determine how long the car had been going the wrong way, Wassmer said.

Makin, who was alone in the car at the time of the accident, was transported to Pioneer Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
