A fire that apparently started in a furnace motor Sunday afternoon caused an estimated $10,000 damage to a trailer home in the Majestic Meadows Mobile Home Park.

Salt Lake County Fire Lt. Dennis Steadman said flames already had spread up a ventilation shaft to the roof of the home at 4601 S. Aspen Lane by the time the first firefighting units arrived at 1:55 p.m. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.Steadman said the owner, Gladys Bohmhold, smelled smoke and notified the Fire Department. Neither she nor any of the 16 firefighters who battled the blaze was injured, Steadman said.

Flames spread into the ceiling and floor of the trailer home, but damage was limited to the rear section, Steadman said. In addition to the structural damage, the fire caused about $1,200 damage to contents, Steadman said.
