President Thomas S. Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at Brigham Young University Sunday, March 3.

His address, for the 18-Stake Fireside at 7:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center, is open to the public.A native of Salt Lake City, President Monson has served the church in many positions. At the age of 36, he was ordained an apostle to serve on the Council of the Twelve Apostles. He also served as a mission president of the Canadian mission and in the presidency of the Temple View Stake in Salt Lake City before his call to the Twelve.

President Monson served in the United States Navy at the close of World War II. He has a broad business background and serves as vice chair of the Church Board of Education Executive Committee and as a trustee of BYU and the LDS Church Board of Education.
