The Miss USA contest went off smoothly Friday with Miss Kansas, Kelli McCarty, 21, picking up the crown and no mention being made of the outgoing Miss USA's suit against the pageant. Before Carol Gist crowned McCarty, pageant officials played a tape of her saying all the right things about her reign as Miss USA. "I give all glory to God and I thank my family and friends for all their love and support and my sponsors who made the year so rewarding," she said. But in a $32 million suit filed last week in Detroit, Gist claimed pageant officials haven't delivered all the prizes she won and that they made her work seven-day weeks without overtime pay.
