Palm Springs Mayor Sonny Bono, who once nabbed a motorcyclist in this desert resort for being reckless, admits he never obtained a special license needed to ride his Harley-Davidson. "I really have no justification for it," he said Friday. "It's a bad example for other motorcyclists." The former pop singer and Cher's ex-husband garnered attention when he patrolled Palm Canyon Drive on his Harley during spring break last year and stopped a speeding motorcyclist. Bono let the cyclist off with a warning. Bono, 56, speculated that leaks about the status of his license were politically motivated. He has announced he will seek re-election next year. "It looks like somebody is trying to throw stones," he said.
