ABC is sending "thirtysomething" on hiatus next month - bringing into question the show's future on the network.
As of March 12, "Eddie Dodd," which stars Treat Williams as a "hip, hard-charging lawyer and champion of lost causes," takes over the Tuesday at 9 p.m. time slot. However, "thirtysomething" will be back with six new episodes on April 23.There have been rumors for quite some time that this would be the final season for "thirtysomething." The ratings, which have never been strong, have weakened considerably. And this move may be an indication that the end is near.
Not that all is gloom for the yuppie crowd. The fact that ABC is bringing back "thirtysomething" in time for the May sweeps - a very important time in the world of television - indicates the network hasn't given up on the show completely.
In fact, it would be a worse sign if ABC yanked "thirtysomething" and put something else on during sweeps.
We'll just have to wait and see whether Michael, Hope, Elliot, Nancy, Ellyn and Melissa will be back next year.TAMI'S BACK: After a short stint as a radio personality, Tami Sanders returned to KUTV this week.
Her official title is producer of station projects, and among her duties will be to head up the "Baby Your Baby" program and work on long-form documentaries.
And, yes, she's back as the hostess of Ch. 2's "Entertainment Spotlight" segments.DAYTIME RATINGS: CBS may still be third in the prime time ratings, but the Big Eye is a big No. 1 in daytime - as a matter of fact, the network has finished first in daytime for 110 weeks in a row.
