A one-day public workshop designed to help people acquire fundamental interior design skills will be held Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gayl Baddeley Associates' designer showroom. The new showroom is located at 5445 S. Highland Drive in Holladay.

Titled "Discovering the Great Indoors," this hands-on, how-to workshop will be presented by interior designers Annette C. Stevenson and Kathleen S. Bluth, both of Carpenter-Shaw Design. They will cover current decorating trends and design principles and theories, as well as offer help with specific decorating problems participants may have encountered.Bluth said there are a lot of things that go into creating whatever look and feel people are trying to achieve in their homes - colors, furniture, accessories and lighting. "We want to help people make the most of what they have as well as show them what's available that might enhance their home environment."

Both Bluth and Stevenson have conducted similar workshops in Denver and Spokane. They hold degrees in interior design from Brigham Young University.

The cost of the workshop is $45 per person, which includes lunch, workbook and other materials. Participants must register in advance. Call 943-4888 before March 1.
