Top-seeded Ivan Lendl and No. 5 Michael Chang rolled to straight-set victories Friday night, advancing to the semifinal round of the $750,000 Volvo Indoor tennis tournament.

Lendl powered his way past Darren Cahill 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, while Chang dispatched Jeff Tarango 6-3, 7-5.Lendl meets Derrick Rostagno on Saturday. Rostagno, the No. 11 seed and ranked 42nd, rallied from a set down Friday to defeat No. 13 Cristiano Caratti 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, 6-0.

Chang meets the winner of Friday's late match between No. 7 Michael Stich, the defending champion, and No. 15 Mark Koevermans.

Koevermans moved into the quarterfinals when No. 2 seed Pete Sampras was forced to retire in the second set of their match on Thursday because of a pulled hamstring.
