Heather Norman scored 22 points as Washington State beat Southern Utah State 75-58 on Thursday night.

Washington State, a Pacific-10 Conference team, improves to 16-7 on the season. Southern Utah State, an independent, falls to 4-20.The Cougars took an early 17-4 lead, but Southern Utah State fought to tie the game at 19 midway through the first half. Washington State came back with a 19-5 run, including eight points from Dawn Allinger, to take a 38-24 halftime lead.

The Thunderbirds pulled within nine in the second half, the last time at 63-54. Washington State stretched out with a 12-4 run to seal the victory.

The Cougars forced 27 Southern Utah State turnovers but struggled at the free throw line, hitting only 8 of 17. Washington State shot 43 percent from the field compared with Southern Utah State's 39 percent.

Joining Norman in double figures for the Cougars were Kristin Metson with 15 points and Allinger with 13.

Angie Tanner led the Thunderbirds with 12 points.
