An Ogden real estate broker has agreed to have his license suspended for a year to settle charges of incompetency, dishonest dealing and making misrepresentations and false promises, documents said.

Val R. Iverson failed to protect the sellers of a house he had purchased from foreclosure liability, the stipulation and order said. Iverson bought the home to help the sellers qualify to purchase another property. In making the deal, Iverson agreed to assume its first mortgage and indemnify the sellers on their second mortgage. But financial problems and bankruptcy prevented Iverson from indemnifying the sellers, making them liable for foreclosing on the house when Iverson defaulted, the stipulation said.
