Gary L. Nordloh, 43, has been named president and chief executive officer of Questar Corp.'s three exploration companies, Wexpro Co., Celsius Energy Co. and Universal Resources Corp., according to R. Don Cash, Questar chairman, president and chief executive officer.

Nordloh also has been named a senior vice president of Questar Corp. He was serving as vice president and chief operating officer of the three exploration and production companies.Cash said Nordloh was instrumental in developing and implementing a growth strategy for the exploration and production companies that has resulted in improved performance in 1989 and 1990. "He has spent a lot of time and effort improving the track record of our exploration and development programs and also enhancing the future viability of our company," Cash said.

The strategy called for decentralized regional offices for the three companies, increased emphasis on acquisitions and drilling and a policy to seek partners for exploration proj-ects.

Questar's three exploration and production companies had $315 million in assets on Dec. 31, 1990, and their combined net income for the year was $17.3 million compared to $10.9 million in 1989.

Nordloh joined Questar as manager of engineering for Celsius and Wexpro in 1984. He was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer for the three companies in 1989.

A native of Strasburg, Colo., Nordloh graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering in 1971. He worked for Amoco Production Co. from 1974-81.
