Edwin C. "Ted" Westwood, 78, of Salt Lake City, died February 16, 1991 at his home of heart disease.
Born October 25, 1912 in Salt Lake City, the son of Edith Ann Holley and Joseph Charles Westwood. Married his loving wife, Emma Lou Markey, November 6, 1943. The marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.An Eagle Scout in youth, he graduated from West High School in 1930 and attended LDS Business College. Served in the US Army, 1942-46 and U.S. Army Reserve until 1974. He retired as a CW-4. Active in Democratic politics most of his life: President of Young Democrats, member of State Executive Committee, Chairman of Legislative District l, Voting District Chairman and delegate. Sealer of Weights & Measures for City of Salt Lake, 1948-77, during which time he sat on the Public Safety Commission; served on major committees of the National Bureau of Standards, including three-year appointment on advisory board of the National Bureau for Weights & Measures Affairs. Served on Commission of Laws & Regulations, Executive Committee of National Association of Weights & Measures (elected vice president twice). Past president and board member of the Salt Lake Employees Credit Union.
Survivors: wife, Salt Lake City; three children, Suesan W. Taylor, Stanford, California; John S. Westwood, Washington, DC; Jane W. Brown, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren.
Funeral service Wednesday, February 20, 1991, 10:00 am, Federal Heights Ward Chapel, Virginia St. between 5th and 6th Ave. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday 7-8 pm and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
