Reed Shelley Thompson, age 76, died February 14, 1991 inI Provo, Utah.
Born August 26, 1914 in American Fork, Utah, the son of Russell and Vera Shelley Thompson. Married Ruth West, December 14, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, she died in 1960. He married Genevieve Matthews, October 19, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church. Member of American Fork Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years and served as Assistant Chief for 10 years. He was a bus driver for Alpine School District for 25 years. He helped found the Highland Culinary Water Company and was presently its president having served since its beginning. He served on various irrigations water boards for over 30 years. Worked for U.S. Steel on its construction and later as a fireman. He left U.S. Steel for his first love Farming.Survived by his wife, of Highland; sons and daughters, Mrs. Don (Pearl) Mower, American Fork; Alan Thompson, Mark Thompson, Vern Matthews, all of Highland; James Thompson, of Provo; Blaine Thompson, of Logan; Mrs. Richard (Lana) Marsden, of Kaysville; Cornelius (Neal) Matthews, of Roosevelt; Verl Matthews, of Panguitch; Arlen Matthews, of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ronald (Geneal) Masterson, of Renton, Washington; Marion Matthews, of Boise, Idaho; 44 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Darrell (June) Dean, of American Fork; Phyllis Thompson, of Provo; Mrs. J.T. (Ruth) Larson, of Aberdeen, Idaho; Carl Thompson,of Lehi. He was preceded in death by one son Gary.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. in the Highland East Stake Center, 4679 West 11000 North (Canyon Road). Friends may call Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial in American Fork Cemetery.
