Afton Johnson Walkenhorst passed away Wednesday, February 13, 1991 of heart failure, at the age of 77.

She was born March 23, 1913 in Collinston, Utah to Race A. Johnson and Charlotte M. Whitworth. She graduated from Utah State University in Landscape Architecture and Art. Married Alvin William Walkenhorst, June 24, 1940; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 12, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1980.She was active in the LDS Church, serving 37 years in the Primary, she fulfilled many callings, touching others with her quiet love. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Employed by Leon Brown Floral Co. as a floral designer.

She is survived by her son, John A. Walkenhorst and wife, Lynene, Salt Lake; daughter, Charlotte Williams and husband, Dr. Dee L. Williams, Denver, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 18, 1991, 11 a.m., Valley Park 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 5300 So. 3200 West, Salt Lake. Friends may call at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the ward Monday one hour prior to services. Burial in Collingston-Beaver Dam Cemetery.
