Price residents Mark D. Bunnell and G. Layne Miller were honored as outstanding alumni of the College of Eastern Utah's music department during its annual senior honor band and choir performance Feb. 16.

Bunnell, a 1978 CEU graduate and an engineering geologist in Price, was a drum major for the Carbon High School marching band and received the Master Musician Award and an outstanding soloist award in regional competition. He was also recognized as an all-state musician.At CEU he received awards as outstanding band and choir student and was selected by his instructors and peers as outstanding male student of 1978. He received a master's degree in geology from Brigham Young University.

Miller performed both as a singer and band member while attending CEU. He was a member of the choir, chamber choir, concert band, jazz band and pep band. He has participated in various community choirs including the Castle Valley Chorale, and sings in church and regional choirs. He teaches saxophone and guitar lessons.

CEU band instructor Derral Siggard said Bunnell and Miller believe "music is a lifelong experience. They both continue to support music education and give their full support to groups who promote the enjoyment of music in our area."
