The world's largest Christian church body Wednesday called for a gulf cease-fire and urged Iraq to bow to world pressure and pull out of Kuwait, a spokesman said.

The 4,000 delegates from 130 countries attending the seventh assembly of the World Council of Churches passed on a voice vote a resolution calling "urgently" on both Iraq and the coalition forces to cease fighting immediately and to work for a negotiated solution of the Iraq-Kuwait dispute within the context of the United Nations.
