Iraq is only going to let television cover the war from Baghdad after print reporters leaving the country detailed morale problems and opposition to President Saddam Hussein.

"Right now we prefer TV only," an Iraq embassy spokesman said Tuesday in Amman, where reporters have obtained visas to travel to Baghdad. "We have no visas for writers."Iraq is unhappy with reports written by the first wave of print reporters who came out of Iraq in early February and described widespread dissatisfaction inside Iraq toward Saddam.

Iraq issued almost 30 visas to TV crews and still photographers this week but did not grant any to American newspaper reporters or writers who have requested permission to cover the war from Iraq.

The decision apparently was made after the publication of news stories critical of Iraq that were written after some reporters left the country.
