About 100 students will be shifted from Granger Elementary School to Stansbury Elementary at the beginning of the 1991-92 school year to alleviate overcrowding at the Granger school.
The boundary change will address immediate concerns and put proposals for a year-round schedule at Granger on hold, at least temporarily, said Kent Gardner, Granite District spokesman. In addition, more than 140 junior high school students who now attend Kennedy Junior High School will move to Valley Junior High as a first step in dealing with large student populations in some Granite District junior high schools.
The junior high school shift will involve students living between 4100 South and 4700 South and between 3800 West and 4000 West.
The boundary adjustments were approved Tuesday night by the Granite Board of Education.
Overcrowding in westside schools has been a concern for some time, and new unexpected growth in the south and west areas of Salt Lake Valley has revived planning efforts.
