Brigham Young University President Rex E. Lee will argue his 55th case before the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Lee will represent the state of Alaska in Hoffman vs. the Native Village of Noatak. The case involves the doctrine of sovereign immunity, a doctrine that says that, except in certain instances, governments cannot be sued. The case deals with whether an Indian tribe can sue a state.

Lee, a former solicitor general of the United States, said this is the first time in his legal career that the number of cases argued before the Supreme Court will equal his age.
